$1 million bond set for Lakewood man accused of killing 23-year-old woman in Cleveland

21-year-old Dennis Coates pled not guilty to charges relating to the death of 23-year-old Dimesha Wright

CLEVELAND — Dennis Coates, the man accused of killing a 23-year-old Cleveland woman, appeared in court on Thursday.

During an arraignment hearing, the Lakewood man pleaded not guilty to charges including aggravated murder and felonious assault. Additionally, a bond of $1 million and a no-contact order with the victim's family was set. 

Coates was previously arrested on Dec. 14 after allegedly killing 23-year-old Dimesha Wright. Cleveland police previously told 3News that Wright was shot and killed while holding a 7-month-old baby near the 18000 block of Harland Avenue. 

Coates is expected to appear at the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court for a pre-trial hearing on Jan. 8 at 9 a.m.
