CLEVELAND — Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force have arrested a suspect who was wanted following the murder of a 16-year-old that took place in Cleveland.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, 19-year-old Darrion Malone was located and arrested on Friday morning. Malone was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated murder following the murder of a 16-year-old male last month.
Per police, the incident occurred on Nov. 1 when an argument broke out between two juveniles in an apartment building near the 1500 block of Ansel Road in Cleveland. After the argument, Malone and two other individuals entered the victim’s apartment, fatally shooting a 16-year-old male before fleeing the scene.
On Friday, Malone was located in a residence near the 9300 block of Amesbury Ave. in Cleveland. Authorities say that he initially barricaded himself in an upstairs bedroom of the residence before eventually surrendering. Malone was safely arrested by task force members and turned over to the Cleveland Division of Police for processing.
"The Cleveland Division of Police, homicide division, was very efficient with their investigation on this case, which also led to quick and safe arrest," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement.
