Police: 12-year-old girl 'stable' after being shot in Cleveland Saturday night

No arrests have been made as multiple people in the area told police they had not seen what happened.

CLEVELAND — A 12-year-old girl was taken to a hospital on Saturday night after being shot in the shoulder, Cleveland police said.

According to a Cleveland Division of Police spokesperson, officers responded to the area of East 93rd Street and Amesbury Avenue around 9:50 p.m. Saturday and found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound amid a large group of people.

Police said the girl had been walking in the area with a few other people when "shots were fired, striking the victim one time" and wounding her shoulder area.

Medics transported the girl to a nearby hospital. A Cleveland police spokesperson said Sunday afternoon that the girl's condition is listed as "stable."

Police said Sunday that the shooting is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.

"Officers interviewed multiple people in the area, however no one appears to have seen what occurred," the police spokesperson said.
