Suspect in custody following chase in Cleveland

The chase had been initiated by the Berea Police Department.

CLEVELAND — A suspect is in custody following a police chase that occurred in Cleveland on Wednesday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Cleveland Dispatch Center was made aware that the Berea Police Department was in pursuit of a black Ford Escape on Interstate 71 northbound near Denison Road in Cleveland at approximately 10:39 a.m. Troopers from the Cleveland Post attempted to catch up to the initial pursuit with the Berea Police Department once it reached Interstate 90 eastbound, but were unable to get into a position to engage before the Berea Police Department terminated the pursuit.

At 11:17 a.m., troopers arrived on scene at the exit ramp of Interstate 90 eastbound and E. 185th Street where the suspect vehicle had crashed, with the Berea Police Department having already taken the suspect into custody. The crash is under investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police.
