GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — An investigation is underway after two people were shot overnight in Garfield Heights.
Police say one person was killed in the shooting, which happened just before 3 a.m. Thursday in the 11200 block of Mountview Avenue.
Garfield Heights police officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a female yelling for help. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a female who had sustained gunshot wounds. A male was also found dead inside the home.
The female victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries., according to the Garfield Heights Police Department.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident after witnesses told officers the person was in the back yard. The suspect is currently being held at the Garfield Heights City Jail.
The incident remains under investigation, and no other information has been released.
