ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — Nearly 90 residents of the Rockport Senior Living in Rocky River are being evacuated after a fire broke out at the facility on Tuesday.
3News has learned that 88 residents of Rockport were transported to the Rocky River Memorial Hall.
It is believed the fire started from an malfunctioning underground transformer.
Power company trucks were at the facility along with fire departments from Rocky River and several nearby communities. A power outage is impacting nearby homes and businesses as well.
Rockport Senior Living is located on Center Ridge Road in Rocky River and features independent living, assisted living, memory care, and an elder daycenter.
There is no word yet on the extent of the damage at Rockport.
