NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — The North Olmsted Senior Center was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle struck the building.
At approximately 12:00 p.m., the North Olmsted Police and Fire Departments responded to calls after the incident took place. According to police, the driver struck a gas meter for the building causing a gas leak.
The building was evacuated as a precaution until a gas company was able to shut down the gas line and fix the damage.
The driver was treated at the scene by paramedics, but was not injured. No other injuries were reported. There was no structural damage done to the building.
A spokesperson for the North Olmsted Fire Department said that the building may be reopened on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the time it takes to service the gas line.
The incident remains under investigation.
