PARMA, Ohio — A man was arrested by Parma police after a standoff at a city residence on Tuesday, June 25.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., Parma officers responded to calls of an armed man inside of a vehicle parked outside of a residence on the 2400 block of Alber Avenue. According to police, the suspect knew a person who lives inside of the residence and was in violation of a protection order.
When officers arrived, the man allegedly refused to exit his vehicle, causing a standoff for several hours. At approximately 7:50 a.m., the 24-year-old man was arrested by Parma SWAT without any further incident. The suspect was then taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
A handgun was recovered from the suspect. The names of the suspect and victim have not been released at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
