Police: Possible drunk-driver crashes into woman and 1-year-old baby after running through stop sign in Cleveland

Police say the driver was possibly intoxicated at the time of the crash.

CLEVELAND — A woman and a one-year-old child are in the hospital today after a "serious motor vehicle crash" in Cleveland. 

According to the Cleveland Division of Police, officers responded to reports of a crash on E. 124 Street and Farringdon Avenue, with a possibly intoxicated driver at the wheel. 

Officials say that preliminary investigations indicate that the male driver ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle containing a woman and a one-year-old child.

The child was transported to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's with severe injuries and the woman-- who had to be extracted from the vehicle-- currently has at least a broken femur. 

The male driver is currently in police custody connected with suspected OVI.  

Officials say the investigation into this matter is ongoing.
