GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio — A 60-year-old Stow man has died following a crash shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday in Geauga County's Newbury Township.
Authorities say the preliminary investigation shows that a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle was traveling northbound on state Route 44 when it struck a deer in the roadway near Route 87.
The driver – identified as Joseph A. Randall – was thrown from the motorcycle before he was struck by a commercial vehicle that was also traveling northbound.
Randall was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the commercial vehicle, a 64-year-old man from Saint Augustine, Florida, was not hurt.
The situation remains under investigation.
No additional details were immediately available.
