WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Two residents of Painesville were arrested after a gun was fired following an altercation that began during an indoor soccer game in Willoughby on Tuesday.
According to Willoughby Police, officers were dispatched to the Lost Nation Sports Park at approximately 9:10 p.m. for a report of a fight in the parking lot. While responding, officers were advised that a gun was fired during the incident, but that nobody had been struck.
Officers proceeded to locate a white Mercedes that was reportedly involved in the incident traveling southbound on Lost Nation Rd. A felony traffic stop was conducted on the three occupants inside the vehicle, in which a 9MM Springfield and 9MM Glock were found.
Two of the three occupants inside the vehicle, both 25-year-old Painesville residents, were subsequently arrested. One was charged with felonious assault, while the other was charged with aggravated menacing with a firearm. Both suspects are currently awaiting arraignment.
One spent bullet casing was found in the parking lot at the Sports Park. A preliminary investigation found that the altercation began during an indoor soccer game and continued into the parking lot. The driver of the white Mercedes proceeded to discharge his firearm while leaving the parking lot.
