MENTOR, Ohio — Disturbing cellphone video has emerged showing a fight that happened inside Mentor High School on Tuesday.
The video takes place inside the cafeteria of Mentor High. It appears to show one student hitting and pushing another. We are told that one student was injured and the Mentor Police Department is investigating the incident.
3News reached out to Mentor Public Schools to verify the video's authenticity.
"Yesterday, in the cafeteria, one student assaulted another student, causing injury. This type of behavior is absolutely not tolerated in our schools, but is met with serious and appropriate disciplinary action when necessary," said Mentor Public Schools Director of Community Relations Kristen Estes in a statement to 3News.
Estes added that based on privacy laws, the district is unable to share specific information about students and any disciplinary action. She says the school resource officer, who is also a member of the Mentor Police Department, is involved in the investigation.
