LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — An investigation in Perry Township is underway after a fatal car crash that happened early Friday morning.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred near Perry Park Road and Clark Road on Friday, April 22, around 8:17 a.m.
Troopers from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Upon initial investigation, they found that a 2008 Buick Lucerne traveling northbound struck an unoccupied landscaping trailer that was parked near the northbound lane.
The driver of the Buick was transported to TriPoint Medical Center. The Lake County Sheriff's Office confirmed the driver later passed away due to the injuries he sustained.
After the accident, the roadway remained closed for nearly two hours as investigators examined the scene.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office does not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the identities of those involved in the accident have not been released.
