The Lake County General Health District is warning residents about a scam letter that has surfaced.
The warning comes Wednesday morning after LCGHD officials say they obtained information that a resident in Mentor received an unsigned letter from Lake County Health Commissioner Ron Graham.
The letter stated that LCGHD would be placing air samplers in the resident’s homes to monitor for illness.
In a statement by LCGHD, they confirmed that the letter was a scam and that they will not be placing air samplers inside of homes or businesses in Lake County.
Those who have received an unsolicited letter, phone call or a visit from LCGHD should contact their local law enforcement agency and report the incident to LCGHD at 440-350-2543.
No additional information was immediately available.
