WILLOWICK, Ohio — According to a complaint obtained by 3News, new charges have been brought against the owner of Shoregate Towers in Willowick.
On Dec. 12, the Willowick Building Department filed 45 criminal charges for various building maintenance violations and failing to comply with city ordinances.
The new charges are in addition to the two previous cases that were filed by the Willowick Building Department against owner Lemma Getachew.
The complaint alleges that Getachew unaddressed safety issues, including failure to install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the buildings and failure to repair damaged or broken fixtures and appliances, as well as other building property code violations.
The complaint comes months after the Shoregate Towers parking garage collapsed in August. 3News previously spoke with residents in October who said that they couldn't access their damaged vehicles at the time.
Previously, Getachew posted a $10,000 bond and pleaded not guilty to all counts from the previous cases. Getachew is expected to be arraigned in court on Dec. 19, at 8:15 a.m.
