CLEVELAND — A 71-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after accidentally falling off a cliff in Elyria, police said.
According to Elyria Police Captain James Welsh, police responded to the 500 block of Washington Ave. for a report of a missing adult man at 4:36 p.m. Police investigated and found the man at the bottom of a "steep ravine" near the bank of the East Branch Black River.
Elyria firefighters responded and attempted to rescue the man but there were no signs of life and his body was turned over to the Lorain County Coroner.
Police are withholding the man's name at this time.
Investigators determined the fall was an accident.
