LORAIN, Ohio — This week, Lorain County was downgraded on the state’s COVID-19 map from a level 3 to a level 2.
On Saturday, the mayor of Lorain shared his community’s experience in a live interview on MSNBC.
“March came and everything changed,” Mayor Jack Bradley said.
This week, Cleveland was among U.S. cities called on by the White House to take aggressive steps against the disease.
But Lorain was not on that list after moving from red to orange.
“We closed our city hall early, we closed our city offices early, and we had a mask requirement for anyone coming into city hall,” Mayor Bradley said.
But he said there was some pushback from an attorney who refused to wear a mask.
“He actually got up into our Lorain City Hall, up into one of the courtrooms. The judge found out about it and actually threatened him that if he comes back into Lorain City Hall without a mask, he’s going to turn him in to the bar association,” Bradley said.
Bradley said people followed the rules and that masks made a big difference.
