Lorain Police Department investigating shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured

LORAIN, Ohio — The Lorain Police Department is investigating a homicide after one man died and another man suffered a gunshot wound Tuesday night. 

Lorain police officers responded to the 1000 block of West 45th Place after receiving reports of shots being fired.

After going to the scene, the police officers learned that one of the victims, 22-year-old Lorain resident Jeffery Reed, drove himself to Mercy Health Lorain Hospital. 

Reed later died at the hospital due to his injuries from the gunshot wound. 

Soon after, another Lorain resident checked into the hospital with a gunshot wound. 20-year-old Marquis Smallwood was treated for his injuries and was later released from the hospital.
