Here’s what’s happening in Northeast Ohio this weekend: Dec. 27-29

Disco lovers can take a trip back in time, and art aficionados can enjoy food and drinks while supporting the Akron Art Museum.

CLEVELAND — It's officially winter and the opportunities for fun are endless in Northeast Ohio.

Grab your partner, a family member or your best friend and take a trip around the ice rink in Cleveland's Public Square, supports the arts while enjoying a beer and an appetizer or make your own custom glassware at a class designed for two.

If you have little ones in your life, take advantage of a free screening of "The Lion King" live-action remake, or make your own gingerbread person in downtown Canton.

Skatetacular in the Square's Disco After Dark

What: Skatetacular in The Square is a season long celebration of winter in Public Square, through February 29. Between now and then, the Square is holding several special events, including Disco After Dark in the Square. This Friday, you can dance to disco classics while you skate around the Cleveland Foundation Skating Rink. Single entry with skates costs $10, and if you have your own blades you can skate for $7. You can buy tickets in advance here.

R. Shea Brewing's Charity Tap & App Event

What: Eat drink and win prizes to support Akron Art Museum in its mission of enriching lives through modern and contemporary art. At this day-long event, 100 percent of the proceeds of designated beer and appetizer purchases will be donated to the Akron Art Museum. Prizes includde VIP passes to Art & Ale 2020 (Akron Art Museum’s popular craft beer tasting event) in March, Art & Ale merchandise and R. Shea gift cards and merchandise.

Date Night at the Glass Bubble Project

What: Make your own custom blown stemless wine glasses, rocks glasses, pint glasses and beer mugs at The Glass Bubble Project in downtown Cleveland. Enjoy pizza and drinks while you make your creation, let it cool overnight and take it home the next day. The evening will run you $130 per couple. Reserve tickets in advance here.

Tough Cookies: Gingerbread First Ladies at First Ladies National Historic Site

What: Enjoy the holiday décor and create your own gingerbread woman at the First Ladies National Historic Site in Canton. Learn about the tradition of gingerbread in the White House as you decorate your own gingerbread. This event is free, and registration is required.

'The Lion King' screening

What: The live action version of the classic animated movie is playing for free at the library in Akron. Watch as Simba flee his kingdom as a cub only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery before returning to reclaim his throne.
