Sweetest Day ideas including the best, cheapest and easiest from Destination Cleveland on Lunch Break with Jay Crawford

Kristen Jantonio lunched with Jay and Maureen Kyle on Friday and shared three ways to make your sweetie feel special.

CLEVELAND — With Sweetest Day coming up on Saturday, Lunch Break has your back. We brought in Kristen Jantonio from Destination Cleveland to talk about the history behind Sweetest Day ahead of its 97th anniversary, and a variety of options for celebrating with your sweetie.

Jantonio broke down her recommendations by the best, easiest and cheapest things you can do to make your significant other feel special.

The best options Jantonio recommended included a nice dinner out at Pier W in Lakewood or the Marble Room in Playhouse Square.

"For fancy dinners, I feel like it’s fair to say folks can expect this to be $100 or more, depending on how fancy you want to get," Jantonio said. "If you get drinks, starters and dessert, for example, you're going to end up spending a bit more."

Dinner reservations were still available, at least at Pier W, for later Saturday evening as of about 3:00 PM on Friday, so if you're thinking this sounds good you better move fast to secure a table!

For those who are pressed for time, an easy option would be picking up a treat for your love.

Jantonio estimated you can spend anywhere from $3 to $25 and come away with something that will bring a smile to someone's face.

For example, one donut at Brewnuts is only $3, and you can snag half a doze for $16.

If you stop by Malley's, you can pick up a 4 ounce box of mixed chocolates for around $7, a box of chocolate pretzels runs $18 and you can get other assortments for between $20-$25.

Another great option for sweets is Lilly's, where you can grab half a dozen truffles for $13 and pick up a whole dozen for $25.

If you're on a budget, Jantonio reminded us that access to the Cleveland Museum of Art’s permanent exhibitions is always free, and the same is true for the Metroparks.

Squire's Castle is located in the North Chagrin Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks in Willoughby Hills, and it's a beautiful spot for a date.
