MEDINA, Ohio — Residents in Montville Township can return to their homes after a brief evacuation order was put in place following a fire at the pool house of a Medina County country club.
The evacuation order was put in place after the Medina Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Friday at the Fox Meadow Country Club pool in Medina.
Fire officials issued the alert for all Fox Meadows residents who lived east of the pool, as the smoke from the fire was believed to be potentially dangerous. The pool house contained chemicals that could have mixed and created a toxic cloud. However, only a five-gallon container of some acid melted and was exposed. There was no toxic cloud.
Nearly 15 minutes after issuing the evacuation order, Medina Police posted on Facebook that firefighters were able to get the chemicals under control and that there was no longer a hazardous smoke concern.
"All residents may return to their homes at this time," said police officials on Facebook at 2:02 p.m.
No additional details on the fire have been released at this time.
