Firefighters injured during fire at Hampshire House apartments in Warren

WARREN, Ohio — Several firefighters were injured after battling an apartment fire on 5th Street Southwest in Warren early Sunday morning.

According to a captain with the Warren Fire Department, they responded to an apartment fire that started early Sunday at 3:58 a.m. on the south side of the Hampshire House apartments. Eventually, the fire traveled rapidly to the other side of the building. 

While putting out the fire, several Warren firefighters sustained minor injuries and were checked out by EMS officials on the scene. 

Officials confirmed that there were also civilian injuries, but no other details have been released. 

Nearly half of the apartments are heavily damaged and cannot be occupied at this time.

The Warren Fire Department will return to the apartments today and assess the damage. 

Red Cross is helping residents who have been displaced due to the fire. 

At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
