WICKLIFFE, Ohio — Editor's note: The video in the player above is from an unrelated story published on September 6, 2021.
On Wednesday afternoon, firefighters with the Wickliffe Fire Department responded to a fire at a residence in the 1800 block of Maple Street.
According to officials, the incident began around 3:30 p.m. when reports of a fire came in. Along with the Wickliffe Fire Department, firefighters from Willoughby, Willowick, Willoughby Hills, Mentor, Kirtland, and Eastlake all assisted.
Thanks to quick action from several fire departments, the blaze was put out in just 11 minutes, according to a release.
Despite quick actions, fire officials say that the smoke and flames spread rapidly and badly damaged the home. Four residents were home at the time but were not injured in the incident.
The matter remains under investigation at this time.
