Copley Police searching for suspects after shootout occurs in local restaurant parking lot

Copley police say the shooting was between two groups of people dining at the Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse on Montrose West Avenue.

COPLEY, Ohio — Copley Police are investigating today after a shootout took place just outside of a restaurant parking lot on Monday evening. 

According to officials, the shooting happened in the parking lot of the Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse, located on Montrose West Avenue.

Police say that two groups of people were eating inside the restaurant and are believed to have known each other. Officials believe that when one couple left the restaurant and went to their car, they were shot at by someone from the other group who had gone outside to wait for them.

The couple fired back, and police say both groups fired multiple rounds at each other.

When police arrived, all involved parties had fled the scene.

Luckily, no one was injured in the shooting. Four cars in the parking lot, however, were damaged by the gunfire.

The incident remains under investigation.
