KENT, Ohio — A fire occurred at the University Inn located at 540 South Water Street in Kent, the Kent Police Department confirmed to 3News.
Members of the Kent Fire Department told 3News at 11:10 a.m. that the fire was out. The fire is believed to have broken out on the seventh floor, with two people transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
Residents have been permitted to return to the building, except for the unit in which the fire originated.
South Water Street in front of the University Inn was closed for approximately 45 minutes, with Kent PD assisting with traffic control. Officers also helped alert residents and evacuate the building, in addition to finding temporary shelter for those evacuated.
