FirstEnergy was also dealing with thousands of power outages from the same storm. At one point, the company had reported more than 55,000 outages throughout the state with the hardest-hit areas in Richland and Ashland counties.

Damage from the storm was so severe in Holmes County that the sheriff issued a Level 3 travel advisory, meaning all roads were “closed to travel by any means other than emergency vehicles.”
