STARK COUNTY, Ohio — The body of a woman that was found near a scrapyard in Canton Township on Wednesday has been identified as the suspect in a murder that occurred in Akron last November.
Thomas' body was discovered by a passerby in an abandoned parking lot in the 3700 block of Georgetown Road Northeast in Canton Township. At the time, authorities were unable to identify the woman or determine her cause of death.
The body of the woman was later identified as Thomas, who had outstanding warrants for her arrest in connection to the fatal shooting of her boyfriend, Joseph Hall, which occurred at a residence in Akron on November 30, 2022.
Authorities had identified Thomas as a suspect early in their investigation, as she and Hall had been arguing over a car throughout the evening of his fatal shooting. She was never captured after going off the radar, however, while the alleged shooter in the incident, Darrell Lee Antwan Buchanan, has been incarcerated in the Summit County Jail since being arrested on December 13, 2022.
The cause of Thomas' death remains unknown with an autopsy pending, but authorities believe her death to be an isolated incident.
