Stark County officials are investigating a two-car crash that claimed the lives of four people Thursday evening.
According to the sheriff's office, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on State Route 153 just east of Maplegrove Street in Nimishillen Township. Police first received a call at 4:57 p.m. and arrived on the scene 10 minutes later to find two cars damaged on the side of the road.
Investigators determined that the driver of a black 2018 Infiniti Q45 was driving at a high rate of speed going westbound on State Route 153. The driver lost control of his vehicle going left of center where he hit a 2014 silver Ford Escape that was travelling eastbound on State Route 153.
Both vehicles came to a stop on the south side of the road, and four people were pronounced dead at the scene.
No further information is available at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Stark County Coroner, Stark County Metro Crash Team, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
