CANTON, Ohio — On Friday night, an AMBER Alert has been canceled after authorities safely located a 5-year-old Ana Burke who had been missing since Thursday evening.
Police announced that Ana had been found around 9:25 p.m. in Illinois, more than a day after she was allegedly taken from a Goodwill store on Fulton Drive Northwest in Canton. The man accused of taking her, 36-year-old Jonathan Stinnett, has been arrested on felony charges of kidnapping and abduction.
It is unknown at this time why Stinnett took Ana two states over. A person authorities believe was Stinnett was spotted at a gas station in Knox County Friday evening, along with his apparent silver 1991 Ford Aerostar van in the parking lot.
Sheriff's deputies in Mclean County, Illinois, notices a "suspicious vehicle" along a roadway, and later alerted Jackson Township police that Jonathan Stinnett had been captured. He is currently in the Mclean County Jail as he awaits extradition back to Northeast Ohio.
Ana Burke "is being evaluated by medical staff," according to law enforcement.
