STARK COUNTY, Ohio — The Perry Township Police Department sent out a list of safety measures for business owners after a recent string of armed robberies targeting the area.
According to a press release, Perry Township police say multiple armed robberies have been reported "over the past two days." Each of the incidents have involved suspects pulling weapons on workers while demanding cash and other valuables. The robberies have happened during the early morning and evening hours.
The following list of safety measures was sent out to Perry Township business owners in response to the incidents:
- Enhance Security Systems: "Ensure your security cameras are operational and positioned to cover all entry points and the interior of your business. Consider upgrading to high-definition cameras if possible."
- Increase Visibility: "Keep businesses well-lit, both inside and outside. Bright lighting can deter criminals and aid in capturing clear video footage."
- Limit Cash on Hand: "Minimize the amount of cash kept in registers. Make frequent cash drops into secure safes that are not easily accessible."
- Employee Training: "Train your employees on how to respond during a robbery, emphasizing the importance of remaining calm and complying with the robbers' demands to avoid escalation."
- Alarm Systems: "Ensure your alarm systems are in working order and set them outside of business hours. Panic buttons can also be a valuable addition for immediate alerting of authorities."
- Community Vigilance: "Report any suspicious activity immediately to local law enforcement. Sharing information with neighboring businesses can help create a network of vigilance."
Perry Township police say they are currently investigating each incident and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
