MACEDONIA, Ohio — The First Watch restaurant on Aurora Road in Macedonia is currently closed after a fire broke out inside of the building on Tuesday morning.
According to the Macedonia Fire Department, an employee called to report a fire in the restaurant at approximately 6:10 a.m. When crews arrived, they were able to shut down gas lines to the restaurant's grill and put out the fire.
According to an initial investigation, the morning crew were in the process of lighting all of the grills when they noticed a distinct smell of gas. Workers attempted to investigate the origin of the smell by pulling a grill away from the wall to check behind the unit. When they pulled the grill forward, the gas supply line burst into flames.
Fire officials say the store manager attempted to use an extinguisher to put out the fire, but was unsuccessful. The employees then evacuated the building and called the fire department.
No injuries were reported. The store will remain closed until repairs are made to the damaged portions of the building.
