WOOSTER, Ohio — Winner! Winner! Winner!
The Ohio Lottery says one lucky man from Wooster recently hit $40,000 a year for 25 years -- a prize worth $1 million total -- in the 50th Anniversary scratch-off game.
The winner -- only identified as Tim -- opted for the cash prize of $500,000. After mandatory state and federal tax totaling 28 percent, he will take home $360,000.
He bought the winning ticket at the BellStore at 1046 North Apple Creek Road in Wooster.
"I scratched off the prize thinking I'd win $100, and I would've been cool with that,” Tim said. “When I saw the prize I think I about fainted! Then I hollered out I won $1 million!"
Tim initially purchased a $20 Lady Luck 100X because he only had $30 at the time. After winning $50, he used that money to buy his big winner from the 50th Anniversary game.
His plans for the money? The Ohio Lottery says Tim is “eyeing up a Harley Davidson and some other toys.”
50th Anniversary is a $50 scratch-off ticket, which features a top prize of $600,000 a year for 25 years. As of Feb. 22, there are three top prizes left in the game.
