AKRON, Ohio — One lucky lottery player from Akron is celebrating a big win after recently hitting a prize worth $1 million in the Billion scratch-off game.
While the player won $50,000 a year for 20 years (which totals $1 million), Ohio Lottery officials say he chose the cash option worth $500,000. After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 28 percent, the winner will receive $360,000.
The winning ticket was sold at the Lakemore Wine & Liquor at 1500 Canton Road. The winner's name was not revealed.
Billion is a $50 scratch-off game with a top prize that features $1 million a year for 20 years. As of Feb. 22, there are still three of those top prizes remaining in the game.
