AVON, Ohio — If you're looking for a place to park your car and enjoy the total solar eclipse in Lorain County on April 8, the Avon Local School District is offering hundreds of spaces on its campuses.
The district announced on Tuesday that it is offering reserved parking at four locations for $35 if you buy early. On April 8, parking will be $50 at the gate. Click here to reserve your parking spot.
Here are the locations where you can park along with the Avon school organizations that will be supported by the funds raised:
- Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet Stadium (Home of the Avon Eagles), 3075 Stoney Ridge Road, supporting Avon Football
- Avon Heritage Elementary, 35600 Bentley Drive, supporting Avon Heritage School and Esports
- Avon Middle School, 3445 Long Road, supporting Avon Middle School Track and Field
- Avon High School, 37545 Detroit Road, supporting Avon Band and Orchestra Boosters
Here's what you need to know on the day of the eclipse:
- Tickets are nonrefundable.
- No alcohol, tobacco, drugs or firearms are permitted on school property.
- Each lot will be open at 7 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024
- Bring your Driver's License with the registered name to check into the parking lot.
- Eclipse glasses are available to buy for $2 each and will be waiting for you when you pull in. You can also buy them onsite on the day of the event for $4 each.
- Concessions will be available in the lots, as well as restrooms.
According to TimeAndDate.com, here's when the eclipse is expected to impact Avon:
- Partial eclipse begins: 1:58:48 p.m.
- Totality begins: 3:13:13 p.m.
- Maximum eclipse: 3:15:10 p.m.
- Totality ends: 3:17:06 p.m.
- Partial eclipse ends: 4:28:36 p.m.
