Following the 2022 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns have released kickers Chase McLaughlin and Chris Blewitt.
The move comes after the Cleveland Browns drafted former Louisiana State University kicker Cade York on Saturday.
Throughout the 2021 season, McLaughlin served as the main kicker for the Browns. He competed in 16 games, going 15 of 21 on field-goal attempts and 36 of 37 on extra-point attempts.
Blewitt joined the Browns practice squad on December 29, 2021 after appearing in two games with the Washington Commanders earlier last season.
During the 2021 season, the Browns struggled to capitalize on field goal opportunities as they only made 72.7% of their field goals as a team.
For Cleveland fans, the future seems promising as York remains the only kicker on the roster for the Browns.
Over the weekend, York became the highest-drafted kicker since 2016 after being taken on Saturday, April 30, in the fourth round as the 124th overall pick.
The Browns’ 2022 rookie finished his collegiate career with an impressive stat line of making 97.6% of his extra-point attempts and 81.8% of his field goal attempts. York’s career-long field goal is 57 yards.
