The dynasty continues.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights kept its dominant run rolling Friday by winning its 19th consecutive OHSAA state gymnastics championship. The Bees posted an overall team score of 147.500, edging out second-place Medina by more than two points.
BBHS went through the competition wire-to-wire, dominating on the vault and the uneven bars. While Medina closed the gap with a strong showing on the balance beam, senior Jenny Bandsuh and the champs sealed the title with a 37.850 in the floor portion.
"The streak is even older than me," Bandsuh told 3News' Nick Camino earlier in the week. "I don't even know most of the gymnasts who contributed to it, but it's so awesome to be a part of such an amazing legacy."
Brecksville-Broadview Heights has now won 22 state championships overall in gymnastics, with the first coming back in 1994. Northeast Ohio as a whole did quite well in the team competition, with Medina, Kenston, Brunswick, Hudson, and Magnificat all rounding out the top six.
The individual competition will take place Saturday afternoon in Hilliard.
