CANTON, Ohio — He’s legendary in Northeast Ohio – and now former Saint Ignatius coach Chuck Kyle has been selected as one of 30 new inductees for the National High School Football Hall of Fame in Canton.
“You develop the players and you can see the kid getting better and better,” Kyle said of his experience coaching. “He has a chance maybe to go play in college and then, who knows, they go on in pros and you take great pride in that.”
He won 11 state titles with Saint Ignatius before retiring in October of 2022.
His daughter, 3News’ Maureen Kyle, talked about her dad’s big honor during the GO! morning show Thursday.
“He doesn’t talk about getting inducted in hall of fames,” she said. “Something that he keeps talking about is how he’s going to be working with organizations like the Hall of Fame and like the Browns and using football as an educational tool. The classroom, he’s always said, is on the field. So that is what he’s focusing on in retirement.”
