CLEVELAND — A week-long initiative for the Cleveland Guardians has raised more than $300,000, the team said in a news release Tuesday.
The money raised during CLE Inspires Week, powered by Kaulig Giving, will go directly toward Cleveland Guardians Charities and its beneficiaries.
The fundraising events included the 2022 Giveathon, Cleveland Guardians Golf Outing and an online auction.
Since the inaugural Giveathon in 2019, the Guardians and Kaulig Giving have raised more than $1 million, the news release said.
“We want to thank our amazing fans, partners and players that helped us exceed our 2022 CLE Inspires week goal of $250,000, especially Matt Kaulig and Kaulig Giving, who have made the Giveathon an extremely successful event since we launched it in 2019,” said Cleveland Guardians Director of Community Impact Penny Forster. “The money raised from the week will make a tremendous impact on baseball and softball in Northeast Ohio for years to come and will allow the Guardians to continue to grow its community offerings for youth in Northeast Ohio.”
The proceeds from CLE Inspires Week benefit the following Cleveland Guardians Charities:
- Cleveland Guardians RBI Program – Fully funded baseball and softball teams filled with Cleveland Metropolitan School District students
- CMSD Baseball & Softball – CGC covers all costs associated with the 11 schools that have high school baseball & softball programs
- PlayBall CLE! – A grant program offered to underserved baseball, softball and adaptive leagues across Northeast Ohio
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio – Our partnership benefits all 50 clubs in Northeast Ohio and over 10,000 youth
In addition to the fundraising events during CLE Inspires Week, the Cleveland Guardians, Davey Tree Expert Co. and the City of Cleveland announced the José Ramírez Field as part of the Clark Field renovation project, the team said in the release. "The field is the third turfed field as part of the Cleveland Guardians Fields for the Future program and will feature 30 trees planted by Davey Tree as part of the 2022 Swing for the Trees program."
