CLEVELAND — West Bank Golf Club in Cleveland hosted a watch party for the Browns vs. Ravens game today in support of a local Cleveland icon.
The fundraiser was put together for the legendary Cleveland baseball drummer John Adams, who is suffering from medical problems.
While Adams was not able to attend the event due to his medical condition, the spirit of the "man with the drum" was felt in full by those who attended Sunday's event.
All the money raised during the event will help cover Adams' expenses, including physical therapy equipment and adjustments that need to be made to his home.
Autographed jerseys, balls and many more items were up for grabs for attendees to win.
Event organizer Will Burge of Barstool Cleveland spoke to 3News at the event Sunday about his effort to support Adams, "The whole point of this is to raise money to give him the physical therapy he needs. Give him the wheelchair that he needs. Get him out of the hospital, out of the nursing home and home where he belongs."
According to Burge, the fundraiser raised over $2,500 at today's event.
Anyone who could not attend the event but wants to donate, you can send a check directly to John Adams at O'Neill Healthcare Fairview Park.
The Cleveland baseball icon has not attended a baseball game since 2019 due to ongoing health issues. Earlier this year, Adams sat down with 3News' Nick Camino for an exclusive interview where he discussed some of the setbacks he has been facing.

During the Cleveland Guardians 2022 post-season run, Adams was honored multiple times at Progressive Field. In Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series, a video of Adams projected onto the jumbotron with him shouting "Play Ball!" with Slider the mascot by his side.
Fans also showed their appreciation for Adams by hanging a large banner filled with thoughtful messages.
