BRONX, N.Y. — No one was more happy than Peter Knab after Oscar Gonzalez went deep last weekend to advance the Guardians to the American League Division Series.
As 3News' Lindsay Buckingham previously reported, Peter hasn't let cerebral palsy stop him from attending more than 120 Guardians games this season. He also threw out the first pitch in Game 1 of the Wild Card series against the Rays last Friday.
For his dedication and inspiring story, the Guardians rewarded Knab with a trip to New York to see Game 1 of the ALDS against the Yankees. The team flew him there and are paying for his accommodations.
"Actually giving me the opportunity to fly to New York and see the Guardians play in the ALDS, it's incredible," Knab told 3News before Tuesday's game.
Knab sent us pictures from Yankee Stadium. He wore his Cleveland jersey with pride. And because he has watched the team closely, he believes the Guardians can win the series.
"I would be happy with a split in New York and have the opportunity to finish in four games in Cleveland," he says. For that to happen, Cleveland will have to come up with a victory in Game 2 after falling 4-1 in the opener on Tuesday.
