CLEVELAND — Gold Glove awards were announced on Sunday, and the pair of Cleveland Guardians that made it on that list will surely fail to shock you.
For the third straight year, Steven Kwan and Andrés Giménez have won American League Gold Glove awards.
As long as Steven Kwan has known the big leagues, he has been a gold glover. And since Andrés Giménez made his way to Cleveland as part of the Francisco Lindor trade, he too has turned not only into a perennial Gold Glove winner, but a Platinum Glove in 2023.
Kwan set the pace for American League left fielders with 10 defensive runs saved while finishing in the top five in the American League with nine assists. Giménez led not only all second basemen but all position players in the American League with 20 defensive runs saved.
The Cleveland Guardians went into the offseason with four finalists, including Kwan and Giménez. Shortstop Bryan Rocchio and third baseman José Ramírez both fell short in their quest for their first career Gold Glove.
The announcement for Platinum Glove winners will be announced on Friday, November 8.
