The future of the 2019-20 season NBA season may be in question, but that didn't stop Andre Drummond from getting back to his winning ways.
Taking part in the NBA 2K Players' Only Tournament, the Cleveland Cavaliers center earned a first-round victory over DeMarcus Cousins on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinals.
Drummond played with the Los Angeles Lakers to blowout Cousins' Brooklyn Nets by a score of 101-49. The 2-time All-Star will face Los Angeles Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley in the quarterfinals, which are scheduled to air on ESPN 2 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
While selecting his team prior to Sunday's matchup, Drummond teased that he'd be playing with his own team, the Cavs.
"I might mess around and go with Cleveland," Drummond told Cousins on the live stream.
"Cleveland?" Cousins replied. "You know something I don't."
Drummond's decision to channel the star power of LeBron James and Anthony Davis rather than playing with himself and his teammates paid off. Drummond's victory over Cousins was the most lopsided of the tournament's first round, which also saw Trae Young, Deandre Ayton, Derrick Jones Jr., Montrezl Harrell, Rui Hachimura, Devin Booker and Beverley advance. Beverley beat Portland Trail Blazers center Hassan Whiteside 84-54.
Following Tuesday night's quarterfinals, the tournament's semifinals and finals will air on ESPN at an undetermined time.
