CLEVELAND — Editor's note: the Locked On Cavs podcast in the video player above is from Nov. 9, 2021.
The injury hits keep coming for the Cleveland Cavaliers. But when it comes to Isaac Okoro, it doesn't appear that the second-year shooting guard will be missing a significant amount of time.
One day after Okoro left Cleveland's win vs. the Indiana Pacers with an elbow injury, the Cavs announced that the Auburn product has been diagnosed with a left elbow sprain. As a result, Okoro is expected to miss the next two to three weeks as he continues to recover and rehab from the injury.
Okoro's elbow sprain is just the latest injury suffered by a Cleveland player and comes just days after point guard Ricky Rubio was diagnosed with a season-ending torn ACL. Additionally, shooting guard Collin Sexton is out for the season with a knee injury, while point guard Darius Garland, forward Cedi Osman and the recently acquired Rajon Rondo each remain in the NBA's health and safety protocols.
Currently in his second season after being selected by the Cavs with the No. 5 pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, the 20-year-old Okoro has averaged 9.0 points and 3.6 rebounds in 27 games. At 21-16, Cleveland currently lays claim to the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference.
