CHICAGO — Eastlake North grad Destiny Leo had 17 points on 5 of 10 shooting as Cleveland State pulled away in the second half to beat UIC 54-45 Thursday night.
The game was a low-scoring affair, and favored CSU (13-3, 8-2 Horizon League) found themselves leading by just two at halftime. The Flames trailed by only three less than four minutes into the fourth quarter, but an 11-0 Vikings run thereafter put things out of reach for good.
Jaida McCloud led UIC (2-14, 1-10) with 12 points and 13 rebounds. In contrast to the Vikes' four-game winning streak, the Flames have now dropped nine in a row.
Cleveland State will be back in action Saturday afternoon when it takes on IUPUI in Indianapolis.
