Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is set to undergo surgery to repair the torn labrum in his left shoulder on Wednesday.
But while Mayfield will undergo the procedure in Los Angeles, he's receiving plenty of support from Northeast Ohio.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday morning, Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Ohio president and CEO Jeff Scott shared a letter that he sent to Mayfield on behalf of his organization. Scott's letter made reference to the charitable efforts that Mayfield has made toward the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Ohio since arriving in Cleveland, including the annual 'Passing the Joy' event, which the quarterback hosts each holiday season alongside his wife, Emily Mayfield.
"It is important for our youth to understand that not everything goes according to plan. In life and in all things we do, we have to adjust, keep a positive attitude and be resilient," Scott wrote. "You have been there for us and our youth the past several seasons, even quietly making large clothes donations and recording public service announcements -- little things that never make the press beyond your annual gift-giving festivities.
"They are not little things to us."
Taking to his own Instagram story on Tuesday night, Mayfield shared a message of appreciation regarding his upcoming procedure.
“Appreciate all the prayers and good luck wishes on the surgery tomorrow,” Mayfield posted. "Excited to get it done and start the road to recovery tomorrow. I’ll keep y’all updated. Thankful to have an amazing support group to help through this process.”
