CLEVELAND — While the Cleveland Browns are coming off a loss, the team received some good news on Monday with an MRI showing that star defensive end Myles Garrett didn't suffer any structural damage to his injured knee. Garrett is expected to be available to play when the Browns return from their bye week to face the Houston Texans on Nov. 15, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Garrett suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Browns' 16-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. After briefly spending some time in the medical tent on the Cleveland sideline, the No. 1 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft returned to the game, but only played on a part-time basis, failing to register a sack for the first time since the Browns' season-opening loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Garrett played against the Raiders despite dealing with an ankle injury that sidelined him for multiple practices in the days leading up to the game. The Texas A&M product is currently tied with Los Angeles Ram star defensive tackle Aaron Donald for a league-high nine sacks, with Garrett also being responsible for an NFL-best four forced fumbles.
Last week, the 2018 Pro Bowl selection was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October following a four-game stretch in which he recorded six sacks, two forced fumbles, four tackles for a loss and eight quarterback hits. In that span, Cleveland amassed a 3-1 record and now enters its bye week laying claim to a 5-3 mark and well-positioned to end an NFL-high 17-year postseason drought.
Following their upcoming bye week, the Browns will return to host consecutive home games against the Texans (Nov. 15) and Philadelphia Eagles (Nov. 22).
