CLEVELAND — When the Cleveland Browns (2-2) take the field to face the Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) on Sunday, they'll do so with their top two pass rushers.
Ahead of their 1 p.m. ET kickoff, the Browns released their inactive list, which didn't include either Myles Garrett or Jadeveon Clowney. While it was previously announced that Garrett was cleared to face the Chargers after missing last week's loss to the Atlanta Falcons due to shoulder and biceps injuries that he suffered in a car accident six days earlier, Clowney was considered a game-time decision after missing the past three games with an ankle injury that he suffered in Cleveland's Week 2 loss to the New York Jets.
The returns of Garrett and Clowney couldn't have come at a better time for the Browns, who are preparing to face the league's top-ranked passing attack. In addition to third-year quarterback Justin Herbert, the Chargers possess plenty of talented pass-catchers, including wide receiver Mike Williams, tight end Gerald Everett and running back Austin Ekeler.
"Offensively, the No.1 pass offense so that gets your attention right away," Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said of Los Angeles earlier this week. "A very good quarterback, as we all know. A good young quarterback. Accurate. Strong arm. Makes great decisions. Athletic. Still moving around really well despite the injury, but you really don’t see that affecting his play. Weapons on the perimeter. A really good running back who can hurt you in a bunch of different ways. A good tight end. It is an impressive group across the board."
With Garrett and Clowney active, Cleveland announced that the following players will be inactive for Sunday's matchup:
- QB Kellen Mond
- WR Michael Woods II
- RB Demetric Felton Jr.
- T Joe Haeg
- G Drew Forbes
- T Chris Hubbard
- TE Miller Forristall
