CLEVELAND — Having already earned his third career Pro Bowl selection, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb might not be done adding to his resume this offseason.
On Thursday, Chubb was announced as one of three finalists for the FedEx Ground Player of the Year award. Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts and Joe Mixon of the Cincinnati Bengals have also been named finalists for the award, with the winner set to be announced at the NFL Honors show in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, Feb. 10 ahead of Super Bowl Sunday.
Voting for this year's award, as well as the FedEx Air Player of the Year is now open at https://www.nfl.com/voting/air-and-ground/player-of-the-year. The three quarterbacks nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Year award are:
- Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
- Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
FedEx will donate $20,000 each to the HBCU choice of the winning quarterback and running back of this year's awards. Altogether throughout the season, FedEx will have donated $100,000 among select HBCUs to support student scholarships as part of its Player of the Week and Player of the Year awards.
In what was his fourth season with the Browns, Chubb earned his third consecutive Pro Bowl selection, finishing second in the NFL in rushing with 1,259 yards, in addition to eight rushing touchdowns. Prior to the start of the 2021 season, the Georgia product signed a three-year, $36.6 million extension, which will keep him in Cleveland through the 2024 season.
