The Cleveland Browns announced they have officially signed kicker Cade York to his rookie year contract.
The signing marks the Browns' eighth out of nine draft picks to be signed to a contract.
York was drafted by the Browns in the 2022 NFL Draft as the 124th overall pick in the fourth round of the draft. That selection made York become the highest-drafted kicker since 2016.
The former Louisiana State University (LSU) kicker was an All-American and three-time All-SEC honoree in his three years with the Tigers.
York's statistics throughout college were impressive as he finished with a stat line of making 97.6% of his extra-point attempts and 81.8% of his field goal attempts. York’s career-long field goal is 57 yards.
During his freshman campaign at LSU, he helped guide the team to a national championship.
York is expected to make an impressive impact for the Cleveland Browns as they have struggled with kickers in recent years.
After drafting York, the Browns released kickers Chase McLaughlin and Chris Blewitt from the team.

This week, York and his teammates attended mandatory minicamp between Tuesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 16.
The Browns practiced in Berea at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus, in Canton at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and finally at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.
