CLEVELAND — Do you feel any better about the Cleveland Browns' 47-42 loss to the Baltimore Ravens 24 hours later?
If you take a step back and look at the Monday night game from a fan's perspective, that was an epic battle. I swear I was back in my childhood watching Bernie Kosar battle Warren Moon or Boomer Esiason in a showdown for the AFC Central title. It had that kind of magic to it.
However, as Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said, the team is not interested in moral victories. As great as it was to see Baker Mayfield and company battle back time and time again, the Browns put themselves into a few too many holes with mistakes. The margin for error against the Ravens is so thin and you simply cannot afford a Mayfield interception deep in the Browns territory, Cody Parkey's kicking miscues, or the defense not being able to corral Lamar Jackson.
The Browns are 9-4 with just three games left to play. They have back-to-back road games in New York against the Giants and Jets, followed by a home game with the Steelers to close the regular season. The Browns really need to win at least two of the final three games to ensure themselves a trip to the postseason for the first time since 2002.
With all of that in mind, I was so pleased to be back with Jim Donovan on Tuesday for another edition of Donovan & Dino. We talked about the key moments from Monday's game, plus:
- Another step forward for Baker Mayfield
- The likelihood of a Mayfield-Jackson rivalry for years to come
- Kevin Stefanski's ability to rally the Browns through more adversity
- How Jimmy powers down after calling such a high-energy game
In addition, I also asked Jimmy about the Cleveland Indians making it official that they will be changing their nickname in the future. You'll want to hear what he had to say.
